Hampss was established & founded by Adhis Cole & Janet Kinyanjui, who are both Registered Nurses and have extensive years of nursing experience between them. With their nursing backgrounds, they both realised that there are gaps in the health care system, in the way mental and psychosocial services are delivered to patients from the African community. Some of these gaps and barriers include but not limited:

• Cultural & Linguistic Barriers
• Stigma & Discrimination
• Lack of awareness & access
• Limited representation and diversity in the mental health and psychosocial workforce.
• Trauma & migration related challenges

To address these gaps, Hampss health has been established out of the importance to develop targeted strategies that involve collaboration between mental health services, community organisations, and individuals from the African community. This  includes increasing cultural competency among mental health professionals, expanding language services, enhancing community outreach and education, and prioritizing the inclusion of diverse voices and perspectives in mental health initiatives

By ensuring that inclusive and easily accessbile support services are in place, hampps health is able to foster a more compassionate and supportive community that benefits our community . We are proud to be a part of the local community and are committed to giving back. We work with local organizations  & srvice providers to provide health education and resources to those in need. We also offer volunteer opportunities for those looking to get involved.

Hampss health recognises that issues such as cultural sensitivity, language barriers, stigma, trauma, limited access, and the need for more community empowerment and overall wellbeing is what is hampering effective delivery of health care services for the African community in Queensland.. There is often little to no follow ups health care for patients from the African community and this is how health care system often fails our community members.

Our social support services are designed to complement our mental health support services and provide individuals with a holistic approach to overall well-being. We are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment where individuals can thrive and find the social connections they need.  We aim to provide psychosocial support to help people who have been affected by a crisis, mental health or Domestic Violence.

We offer Psycho-education,  Life skills and vocational skills activities/lessons, Health education and support to facilitate the care to client/consumers. Creative cultural activities, sports and physical activities including gardening and individualised activities
